Fabulous early deco diamond, platinum and 18K gold drop earrings, c1910
Made in France, these beautiful drop earrings are 18K yellow gold… with diamonds set in platinum. This was a common practice of the era because the platinum shows off the bright white diamonds to their best advantage. The largest diamond measures about 20 pt. Each earring has 10 significant diamonds (80 pt total ct weight, color H-I) plus many pavé diamonds.
The design and workmanship on these earrings is exquisite. The bottom cluster has three intricately fitting, movable parts, which gives these earrings beautiful fluidity. Although the details are intricate, nothing is overdone… the harmony is perfect.
