French art deco, heavy silver plate, roast beef au jus serving spoon, c1960
Forget the fattening gravy! Decades before the low-fat, health food trend, the French were enjoying their roast beef au jus… without the fat. Thanks to this beautiful serving spoon and wonderful concept, one can serve the “jus” without the fat. The divider in the bowl holds back the fat while the heavier juice passes through the hole in the bottom.
This elegant spoon has the maker’s hallmark, but we haven’t identified it. The thickness of the silver plate is indicated by the number 4 in a hallmark. This particular spoon has an extra well in the bottom to maximize the separation of juice from fat. It can be used anytime one wants to separate fat from juice.
Condition: Excellent.
Measurements: The spoon is 8 inches long and weighs 95g.
Price: $240.00
