Round table, Secessionist style, wood and hammered tin, signed Thonet, Vienna c1900

This small table is a signed Thonet made around 1900 in Vienna. It has a glass top with a velvet insert. The edges and base are ridged wood, and the lower portion of the base is hand-hammered tin. The black leather stand is also rimmed in hammered tin. This use of metal leather and an outer rim of metal is a very typical Thonet style. This table came out of an apartment in Paris, where it was used in combination with 4 Viennese art deco chairs (see photo).

Not only could this table be used as a side table, it would be a wonderful table for cocktails, desserts or small meals… as it was used in Paris. The petite size is unusual today, but it is actually quite practical. The velvet insert can be changed if desired, but most people love the color as it is.

Condition: Very good. The original finish has some scuffs from use, but need no refinishing or repairs. The table is very sturdy. Scuffs on the base can easily be touched up from time to time with black shoe polish.

Measurements: The diameter of the table is 24 inches. The height is 29 inches.

Price: $1,800.00 (Please allow us several days to get you a cost quote for crating, shipping and insurance. You account will be billed upon approval of the total cost.)
