Enoch Woods & Sons transfer and hand painted plate, England c1930
This is a rare and lovely floral plate with a very naturalistic transfer drawing of flowers and leaves. Then it was hand colored in autumn colors. What’s so unusual and appealing about this pattern is that it does not look like it was made to fit a plate. It looks more like a snapshot that just happens to be on the front of this plate… similar to chintz. However, it’s much larger and less fussy than chintz.
Enoch Woods started the Woods & Sons Company in the mid 1700s as an offshoot of Wedgewood. It was eventually taken over by his sons and stayed as a family business until the 1980s. We have chosen to display this plate from their “modern” era as a wall plate because the design seems too beautiful to cover. We’ll send you the wall hook with the plate. It would be lovely in a space with neutral or autumn colors.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs… just a bit of wear on the edges.
Measurements: The plate measures 8.5 inches in diameter.
Price: $150.00
