Signed R DeRosa sterling silver dress clip with faux pearls and paste, 1942

The jewelry company started by Ralph DeRosa in the mid 1930s continued making jewelry into the 1970s. But the pieces made in the 40s are considered the most important. From 1942 to 1949 DeRosa made their pieces in sterling (a metal that was not considered necessary for war production). But the company was taken over by the daughter, Vera, after her father’s death in the early 40s. So the combination of “R DeRosa” and “sterling” dates this broach to 1942. Many of the DeRosa pieces are of floral motifs. This is a rare abstract motif that is truly exceptional. It is gold vermeil over sterling with some enamel parts, bands of paste and six faux pearls.

This dress clip can be worn anywhere you’d wear a brooch. The prongs in the back will keep it securely in place. This is a fabulous piece for a collector and for anyone who enjoys wearing exceptional brooches. It’s one of the most beautiful in DeRosa’s history.

Condition: Very good. No missing stones, broken parts or repairs.

Measurements: The piece measures almost 4 inches from top to bottom.
