Signed Hagenauer chrome mouse lamp, c1950
This is a wonderful lamp. A Hagenauer mouse… part of a series of many stylized animals by the famous Austrian metal studio… forms the center of this lamp. The arm that connects the mouse to the light and the shade is artfully formed to compliment the form of the mouse. It is all mounted on a flat base with round ball feet. The bottom has the Hagenauer factory imprint. The lamp has been rewired for U.S. electricity.
Note: Hagenauer pieces have become so collectable that there has been an issue of imitations. We know that the mouse can be documented as a Hagenauer design. However, we have not been able to document the lamp. The studio worked in many kinds of materials and finishes, and chrome was one of them. We have seen Hagenauer pieces… both marked and unmarked… that were unquestionably authentic. We’d feel more certain about this one if we could document it. We’ve taken that into consideration when pricing it. It’s a beautiful lamp, and the age is right. It’s in beautiful condition and would be a lovely lamp in the right spot.
Condition: Excellent.
Measurements: The lamp stands 10.75 inches high by 8 inches wide. The little mouse measures 2.75 inches tall.
