Art deco topaz and 18K gold ring, c1940
The 12 ct smoky, emerald-cut topaz is set in a high deco setting of rose gold with accents of white gold. There are two small rose-cut diamonds on the sides to give the ring a little extra sparkle. The topaz is a nice desirable color… not too light, not too dark. And it is perfectly clear to the naked eye.
Some shy away from art deco rings with the heavy side ornamentation because they feel they are too massive looking. But this one is an exception. The flower like side design is very pleasing. It’s not a shy ring, but it’s very flattering on the hand.
Condition: Excellent. There is a moderate amount of patina.
