Real tortoise shell and sterling art deco ring, c1940
Tortoise shell… the real kind… has been on the endangered list for decades. You won’t find it on any recent jewelry. This lovely ring has 5 trapezoids of tortoise alternating with silver to make a dotted-line effect. The ring form is totally round, rather than being flat on the inside.
This is a truly handsome ring. It has a wonderful graphic design and would appeal to people who like modern jewelry, as well as those who like antiques.
Condition: Excellent. Some of the tortoise pieces are flat on top. They were probably like that when the ring was made.
